Financial Literacy Campaign

Project Manager: Fadhil Afandi bin Mohd Azahar.

On 3 – 4 March 2008, we had organized the Financial Literacy Campaign as an additional project to ensure a fiscally educated society at large. With recession looming in the near future, there was no better time for us to guide people so that they could withstand the depression. And for that, our financial literacy campaign was to introduce unit trust as the preferred type of investment especially for students.

Our main target audience for the campaign were university students – mainly Uniten’s students – aged 18 till 25 respectively. This had been done with concern that young adults nowadays have the tendency to spend on what that is unnecessary for them. We would like to plant a thought in each of them that, rather than spend hundreds or even thousands of ringgit on clothes and gadgets that they don’t even need, it is better to invest that extra ringgit for something that is more worthy so that they can have a better start when they a starting off their career or a family.

The campaign included a 2-days event of exhibition and talk by the Public Mutual Berhad. This event gave the audience more information or knowledge on the benefits of investing in unit trust, with a hope that it would somehow help individuals in making the right move with their money.
